There are several steps involved in becoming a new client at TCMH.  TCMH does not believe in a one size fits all approach to therapy and strives to ensure all potential clients are getting the best help possible, even if that means it is not at TCMH. Below are the steps involved:

  1. Coordinating with the office manager, Kayla, and providing her with your insurance information, availability and general information regarding what you are seeking services for.
  2. Kayla will then consult with the therapists to determine if we are the best fit for you.
  3. If we believe we can help: Kayla will contact you with options for appointments and will obtain additional demographic and insurance information. You will then receive a link in your email to complete all intake paperwork through our secure online portal.
  4. If we believe we are not a good fit: Kayla will contact you with information regarding other providers in the area who are more likely to meet your needs.

You will be greeted by Kayla, the office manager, who will ask for a copy of your insurance card and ID to add to your file. You will be offered a beverage and/or snack while you wait for your appointment. Once your therapist is available, she will greet you and show you to her office.

Your appointment will typically be 60 minutes long and during this time you will discuss additional background information about who you are and what brings you to therapy. If the client is an adolescent, this appointment can be done with or without the parent. Oftentimes, parents are present for the beginning of the appointment and then the parent will step out and allow the adolescent to continue the rest of the appointment individually. Parents are welcome to sit in on the entire appointment if the family requests and this is appropriate.
